Experience the Mississippi's playground - Lake Pepin
Hok-Si-La Park is a 252 acre, municipally owned and operated park located on the Minnesota side of Lake Pepin. Hok-Si-La Municipal Park and Campground offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River, Lake Pepin, and the surrounding bluffs. Enjoy the Mississippi River park by experiencing tent camping at its best, launch a boat at the public boat ramp, or swim and relax at the sandy beach. Take time to explore the mile long stretch of Mississippi River, check out the interpretive center, take the kids to the playground, play volleyball or basketball, enjoy a picnic or relax at the chapel. Park buildings, including the dining hall and screened shelters, as well as camping sites, are open mid-April through mid-October. The park is located on Lake Pepin and open to the public 365 days a year. Bring your family out for some fun hiking, bird watching or a stroll on the beach. Winter offers groomed cross-country ski trails. (Grooming updates posted on Facebook.) Lake Pepin is a widening of the Mississippi River.
Schools, 4-H clubs, family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, company picnics, service organizations, church groups, and outdoor organizations find the park has the space and amenities they desire. Hok-Si-La Municipal Park and Campground is a place to explore the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin.
Office area is for check-ins, acts as a tourist information center and store. Interpretive Center shows flora and fauna of the Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs. Inside find display cases full of memorabilia from the Boy Scout days and Tour De Pepin. Did you know the park was a fox farm with 400 pairs of foxes.
The Boy Scouts named the park. They chose a Dakota Sioux word meaning a boy.
Where is Hok-Si-La Municipal Park and Campground?
The park is located 65 miles south of the Twin Cities on U.S. Highway 61. 35 miles northeast of Rochester on Highway 63, and two miles north of Lake City on Highway 61/63. Minnesota side of Lake Pepin.
